A UK-based communications and PR agency has secured a contract for the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Texas, USA – one of the world’s leading classification and certification organizations.

Knights Media & Public Relations (Knights MPR) will provide public relations support in US and across Europe. Their expertise will help to increase market awareness of ABS’s leading technical insight.

Founder and CEO, Jason Knights, says: “We are delighted to be selected by ABS and thrilled to be working for an organisation committed to setting market-leading standards for safety and excellence in offshore and across the shipping and energy industries. ABS delivers great classification services, technology leadership, and trusted technical advice for the marine and offshore industries. We are very much looking forward to getting started and supporting the classification major in its future ambitions in safety, service and solutions.”

Strengthening the agency’s marine and energy credentials further, Knights MPR’s remit will span both digital and traditional media with content creation and seeding via its in-house expertise.

Knights MPR, which specialises in taking a ‘journalist’s eye’ of client challenges, is fast-developing its communications support and guidance. With a wealth of experience in shipping and energy, this latest contract is the perfect complement to Knights MPR’s existing portfolio of non-competing clients.

“Our approach helps companies to identify, clarify and shape their business purpose. Together with ABS we are creating a communications-led approach that will accelerate market engagement, inspire innovation, and build customer and brand loyalty.”

As the global maritime industry continues to transform with increasing digitization, automation, machine learning and big data analytics, digital technologies will be a key enabler to build a cleaner, better and more safe and sustainable future. In this rapid evolution of technology, ABS is well-positioned as a technical and safety leader.

Jason Knights is the Founder and CEO of Knights Media & Public Relations [Knights MPR]. He set up the company in June 2019 following eleven (11) years as Head of Communications and Media Engagement for Lloyd’s Register. From 1 January 2020, the agency was recruited by both TotalEnergies Lubmarine in Paris and also TotalEnergies Marine Fuels Global Solutions in Singapore.

The contract between ABS and Knights MPR commenced 1 September, 2020.
