Knights MPR named International Trade Finalist in the Maritime UK Awards 2023
Maritime UK has announced 43 finalists for the fourth annual Maritime UK Awards. The winners across 14 categories were announced at the awards evening at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Hull, UK, on Thursday 9 March, 2023.
Knights Media & Public Relations [Knights MPR], a bespoke agency providing international PR, communications and brand flaring services to the maritime, shipping and energy industries, was one of three finalists in the International Trade category.
Agency founder and Lead Director, Jason Knights, said: ““It is incredible to be recognised for the export of our maritime and shipping communications and public relations services.
This Trade Award exemplifies how a one-person start-up with no external financial backing can become a player on the international stage in their early years of operation, and challenge traditional PR and communication agency operating models by winning business with the world’s second largest energy major, TotalEnergies, and with international contracts with companies operating in Singapore, U.S., France, Finland, Germany and here in the UK.
“With so many advances in technology and new cleaner energy solutions fuelling tomorrow’s decarbonisation goals, the team at Knights MPR are committed to ensuring the companies they work with stay at the forefront of the energy transition for the benefit of their consumers, to make the world a better, cleaner, and safer place. Through the way we engage on commercial and industry insights, we have proved that compelling, content-led PR can be an extremely effective tool for raising the profile of a company and gaining traction for ideas and initiatives as a mainstream concern.”
This year, Maritime UK’s Patron HRH The Princess Royal joined 600 industry colleagues and partners in government for an evening to celebrate the wonderful world of maritime and the fantastic progress being made by organisations across the sector in support of Maritime 2050.
Held for the first time in September 2019, the Maritime UK Awards are run by the industry for the benefit of the sector. From a judging panel of internationally recognised maritime leaders to an awards evening at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hull, the Maritime UK Awards are a unique and impactful way to showcase a thriving sector, worth £116bn to the UK economy. The sector has seen significant activity and progress in recent months, with the launch of the National Shipbuilding Strategy, the third round of the Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition and the development of Freeports.
With over 800 years of seafaring history, Hull was chosen as the host for the 2023 awards to shine a light on a city that can be considered a powerhouse for trade and one cementing its position at the heart of a new green industrial revolution.
Associated British Ports were the Diamond Sponsors for the 2023 Awards, and the award category for International Trade is supported and sponsored by the Department for Business & Trade.
Sarah Kenny, Maritime UK Chair said: “We have been determined that the awards will shine a spotlight on different parts of our maritime nation. In Hull and the Humber as a whole, we have an incredibly compelling maritime proposition as one of the UK’s largest ports complex, the fourth largest trading estuary in Northern Europe and a strong focus on the offshore renewable energy sector.”
The 2023 awards celebrated the growing number of world-leading projects, developments and initiatives helping to ensure the UK’s position as the most innovative, competitive, and sustainable maritime centre.
